Self-Esteem Scale (BS)
Self-esteem and self-perception

Self-Esteem Scale (BS) assesses self-esteem and self-perception. A self-report measure of the student’s overall sense of their own worth. It sits underneath much of what shows up as motivation, participation and reaction to failure.
What it makes visible
- Gives context to behaviour that is otherwise read as attitude.
- Most useful read together with the peer relationships and social support measures.
- Sensitive to recent events, so timing of administration is recorded.
Scope and limits
This is a screening and assessment instrument; it does not make a clinical diagnosis. The exact scope of use must be verified against the relevant instrument form, its norm group and the conditions of administration.

Frequently asked questions
It depends on age and content. If it is shared, it must be consistent with what the family was told and framed as an area to work on, never as a limitation.
Not on its own. It is a reason to look at the other social-emotional measures and at teacher observation together.
Scope note
This structure is designed to support assessment, screening and guidance processes — not to make a clinical diagnosis. The aim is not to diagnose but to know the student more accurately, follow their development and identify the support they need in time.
