Peer Relationships Scale (AIS)

Friendship and peer relationships

SED — Social and Emotional Development 8–12 min School counsellor

Peer Relationships Scale (AIS) assesses friendship and peer relationships. A self-report of how the student experiences their relationships with peers - being included, having someone to turn to, feeling at ease in the group.

What it makes visible

  • Surfaces withdrawal that is easy to miss in a busy classroom.
  • At class level it indicates climate, not only individual experience.
  • Read together with the bullying measures where the class picture is uneven.

Scope and limits

This is a screening and assessment instrument; it does not make a clinical diagnosis. The exact scope of use must be verified against the relevant instrument form, its norm group and the conditions of administration.

That is a climate finding rather than a set of individual findings, and it is addressed at class level with the teacher and the guidance service together.

Scope note

This structure is designed to support assessment, screening and guidance processes — not to make a clinical diagnosis. The aim is not to diagnose but to know the student more accurately, follow their development and identify the support they need in time.
